Music Engineering Research

My research is at the intersection of music production, machine learning, and human-computer interaction. Browse my projects below. I have a collection of studies, papers, and prototypes that intertwine these disciplines.

  1. AIR Workshop Presentation

I presented my research at the DCASE Applied & Industrial Research (AIR) Workshop 2026, hosted across MIT and Tufts University. DCASE (Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events) is a community of researchers and companies building machine listening systems, and AIR is its workshop on how that technology is used in the real world.

  2. Posse DAP 2 Interviews

I spent the past six weeks working at my undergraduate scholarship office, Posse Miami, interviewing seniors in high school who were selected to move forward in the Dynamic Assessment Process. As one of the hired interviewers, I helped the office staff with interviewing hundreds of qualified students with unique hopes, dreams, talents, interests, and backgrounds. It was a great opportunity to revisit the Posse values, reconnect with old friends, and be part of the selection process for future...

  3. Master's Thesis: The Impact of AI on Music

For my master's thesis, I worked for a year developing a design approach for building new software interfaces that include emerging music technology. Throughout the process, I worked on user studies, qualitative feedback, participatory design, and self-efficacy measuring to better understand how new AI music tools are affecting students positively and negatively at the University of Miami. The paper is available for open access at the UM library website and is a timestamp recording the...

  5. Posse: Music Sustainability Presentation

I had the opportunity to present some current topics at the intersection of music and sustainability to the next wave of Posse scholars. Below, I have attached the slides to the presentation and a playlist I made for the event.

  6. Association of Popular Music Education Presentation

During APME 2026, I had the opportunity to volunteer to help set up and run the conference. I also had opportunbity to present my master's research project and share a presentation with another scholar. The exeprience was great! I enjoyed working with student bands and I also felt comfortable sharing my research with real people face to face. Here is a short clip from one of the presentations. You can read more about my master's thesis at the button below as well.

  7. Bass Amp: Transducer and Enclosure Design

For my final project in Transducer Theory, I chose to create a bass cabinet for my old bass amplifier. I had to select the driver, choose the dimensions, build the enclosure, and finally test the audio response. It was a good chance to get a better understanding of how frequencies travel through different spaces, how ports can tune the subharmonic response, and how to build a bass cabinet from scratch! I couldn't have done this project without the help of Lorenzo Lanaro and Sam Courtney. The...

  8. Audiorium: ML Music Recs

Audiorium is a product concept built on a music recommendation algorithm that I created using contrastive language audio pretraining, or CLAP. this algorithm can take plain text and images as input to search for music that is most similar to your exact search, rather than the most popular songs. this project was inspired by CLAPSearch by Dr. Haohe Liu and musicmakerhub by Dr. Tom Collins.

  9. Face the Music: An Emotion Classifier That Plays Your Mood

Make a face, hear a genre. A facial-expression classifier, first built in Apple's CreateML for my Design with AI class, rebuilt as a live web instrument that steers generative music across a valence–arousal map.
